Throughout human history, groups of unrelated, even hostile people have joined forces to fight an enemy who threatened both parties, especially where the destruction of one group would bring about the destruction of the other. During World War 2, unfriendly or even hated countries joined forces to fight the common threat of Nazism, even if their actions were completely selfish (self preservation for example) they still fought side by side. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, as they say.
There have been many attempts to end war. The League of Nations, The United Nations, The European Union all created to put a stop to our insane homicidal tendencies , yet war still wages on around the globe. Our fellow men are still viewed as an "other", a stranger not like us.
So if the Earth was in fact threatened, or even attacked by forces not from this world might we put aside our differences for real, and forever? Might an alien invasion, as terrible as it might be remind us of our common humanity, might it in fact be a force for unity?

On the other hand it is not unheard of that the invader offers favours to one of said hated nations in exchange for intelligence or assistance ! I would imagine North Korea would be all over that !
ReplyDeleteVery true, although they would probably be so overwhelmingly powerful they wouldn't need to..
ReplyDeleteor maybe a alien attack would not work with out destroying what they want so a all out attack ends in global nuke so planet left useless for years to come ... well food for thoght
ReplyDeleteso look at history aztecs at time they was most powerfull race on planet egypt same getting closer to home usa now whats to say they not been visited and promsed stuff look at former 2 things in the sky years and years ago when the aliens or what ever you may want to call return they look at the most powerfull race at the time (region) and make contact ..... food for thoght im prob wrong but still at same time if they wanted to wipe us out im sure its not hard like just help us destoy our own protection ozone layer ;)
indeed...or maybe launch a virus to earth from space...it's unlikely they'd land in big ships like Independence Day...
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of reports about the comet elenin that is meant to be entering our solar system is a dwarf star that has not ignited (so a failed star) but still emitting the protons that our sun would cause, causing all of the earth quakes. Research indicates that if you imagine all of our planets floating on the surface of water, you get a rippling effect when you throw a stone in the pond, causing the Earth to tilt on its axis. So if that's the case and it passes between our Sun and Earth - what effect will it have then? Obviously this is all speculation and hype, until we have proof - I guess we'll not know until then. Rogue Planet X is also meant to be predicted on 2012, as the end of the world as we know it. With a mass the size of Jupiter and two black holes with lots of toxic gas around them just outside our galaxy can't be a good sign can it? Although if black holes are worm holes, perhaps they are gateway for UFOs? My guess is that all our theory's will be out of the window with the laws of physics and bending space/time through two points of origin for warp like travel will soon come to light.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add above, which is based on the main thread, that some believe this comet may be guided (like a missile). Maybe the elders of our planet (based on the Egyptian gods) do not like what they see on our planet after leaving it for so long and decided that they want to wipe it clean. All speculation and hype, scaremongering. Expect the unexpected and all that. I guess anything is possible, afterall don't we have two galaxies merged in our milkyway?
